Frequently Asked Questions
How does a recycling center work?
When you visit a waste management or recycling center, you can recycle material that may not accepted in your typical recycling bin. The facility allows you to drive onto scales and drop off your recyclable materials in designated areas. These materials will be weighed, and you're paid by the pound. Recycling centers are equipped to collect materials, such as glass, plastic, paper, metal, and more. They utilize advanced machinery to clean, process, and reuse the materials for new products. For example, paper and cardboard can be processed into pulp, which is then used to create new paper.
Our Muskegon recycling center is a great way for Michigan residents to minimize their environmental impact and contribute to sustainability and environmentally friendly efforts in the community. This type of waste management also reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
